Meltem Sormageç
I'm Meltem Sormageç. The "Midwifery" journey I started at Marmara University in 2009 continues with increasing belief and love every day. Witnessing a baby's birth, seeing and learning that journey full of miracles increases my admiration for my profession every day.
During my student years in delivery rooms, when I held a woman's hand, I saw her belief that she could move mountains. All she needed was someone beside her saying "You can do it." However, I realized that women were very lonely during childbirth and I had to take action to change this. This path was about empowering ourselves.
I started my master's degree; I developed myself with midwifery congresses, associations, scientific publications, overseas work, TUBITAK projects and special training. Midwifery is like a master-apprentice relationship and I was lucky. My masters were always very good and I worked hard to follow in their footsteps. Now, this journey we are walking together with everyone who believes in beautifying births is changing the fate of births.
Life is a dynamic process; yesterday I was in delivery rooms in Turkey, today I am in Canada. Social media was a story I never thought about. However, accessing health services in Canada is not as easy as in Turkey; especially if you have a language barrier, even asking someone a question becomes difficult.
My dream was to support families living in Canada, and to realize this dream, I reached a wide audience from many countries such as Turkey, Germany, England and the Netherlands. Thank you all for taking me on this journey that I couldn't even dream of.
❣️ There is so much more to talk about, so many paths to take and so many births to beautify. I am currently participating in births as a doula in Canada and I am experiencing the happiness of sharing this process with dozens of families I support.
Every family I meet in this process teaches me something new; I grow and develop with their stories. I hope to build a better future by walking together. It was a pleasure to meet you! With lots of love ❤️
