Breastfeeding Tips: The First Days
Challenges you may face while breastfeeding your newborn baby and solution suggestions. Practical tips for breastfeeding success.
First Breastfeeding Experience
The first hours after birth are critically important for the foundation of your breastfeeding relationship. The right start is important for long-term success.
Correct Position
It is very important that your baby latches onto your nipple correctly. The baby's mouth should be wide open and should take not only the nipple but also the areola. This both prevents pain and ensures the baby gets enough milk.
Frequent Feeding
Your baby should be breastfed every 2-3 hours in the first days. This increases your milk production and ensures your baby is fed. Night feedings are especially important.
Pain Management
Mild sensitivity in the first days is normal, but if you're experiencing severe pain, you may need to change positions. Cold compresses and nipple creams can provide relief.
Milk Production
Colostrum (oral milk) comes in the first 2-3 days, which is very valuable for your baby. Milk production increases on days 3-5. Drinking enough water and resting are important.
